April 2015- Lisa Kelly

Meet Lisa! Lisa is a bubbly, down to earth kind of lady and can make friends with just about anyone! She started training with Jerry a couple years ago after Treves Janszen referred her, and after a short time off returned to Thrive Fitness in the fall of 2014. After turning 50 in October, she knew she needed to do something about her sedentary lifestyle. We are glad to have her back! She was looking for a way to work out that would give her more incentive, and also be challenging and fun.

"I really enjoyed the program Jerry offered. I love having the interaction with a trainer, and know that the group setting is small enough that you don’t feel lost in the crowd. Jerry tailors the workout to my specific needs, and encourages me throughout my workout. It makes me accountable, because he knows when you’ve missed a day, unlike at a gym where you have no connection to anyone," Lisa states.

Her favorite song to workout to is Pitbull’s Fireball. It really gets her moving! Her favorite exercise to do at Thrive is the TRX rows, while her least favorite is the sled, that is unless she starts her workout with it...."then it's tolerable"! In the next 6 months, she hopes to have more energy, and be down 3 dress sizes for her daughter’s wedding on October 3rd. With her time away from the gym, she likes to go outside for walks. Her and her husband's farm is her favorite place to do so. "It has everything from hills to deep woods to ponds and creeks. It's very peaceful!", describes Lisa.

Fun Questions to get to know Lisa!

How many countries have you been to? Which has been your favorite place to visit?

I’ve been to 11 different countries. I have to say Italy and Spain are my favorites, but I’m partial to Spain since my daughter lives there. I’ve been there 6 times.

Which do you prefer: talking on the phone or texting?

Anyone who knows me, knows I’m a talker. Definitely talking on the phone is my preference.

What do you think the most useful class in high school was? What was the most useless?

The most useful class for me was Speech and English. I’m kind of a grammar geek. I think it helps to have good grammar in my line of work. The most useless class to me was algebra and geometry. I don’t think I’ve had to solve any of those equations since I’ve graduated from high school.

Name 3 OBJECTS that you couldn’t live without.

My car, my cell phone, and my house.

If you could live one day over again, for whatever reason, what day what it be and why?

I’ve pondered this question, and really don’t have an answer. But if I had to choose one day, I was thinking the day I decided not to return back to NKU and finish my degree. I’ve always regretted that decision and wished I had stayed in school.

What was the scariest moment of your life?

The day they told me my 21 month old son had severe kidney issues, and may need double kidney transplants. He is now 23 yrs old, and did not need the transplants, and his surgery was a complete success.

Which would you prefer: a rainy day or a snowy day?

Rainy day, any day over snow.

What is your favorite four-legged creature and why?

That would be my toy poodle, Buffy. I truly think she was a human in a past life! She’s been my BFF for the last 14 years.

What is the one thing about yourself that you like best?

I like that I’m down to earth, and can make friends easily.

If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, what store would it be?

Don’t judge me, but I would have to say Walmart. I actually hate to shop, so anywhere I can do one stop shopping, I’m there. Get in, get out, and go! And if I can shop online, even better. That’s how I roll!!

Keep up the great work, Lisa!
